Founder’s Letter

“How can you not be romantic about baseball?”

This is Billy Beane’s famous line from the movie “Moneyball”. To make the quote pertain, “How can we not be romantic about debate?” It is the foundation of our land, the core of our expression, and the influx of ideas that allows society to become more critical and aware. It is for those reasons that we must keep debate alive and accessible.

Two students founded DAYS with the mission of cultivating a global community of young debaters, striving for the accessibility of learning to evolve with every passing day, hence our name. This was the beginning of our journey. DAYS is not different because it’s student-led or welcomes distinguished guests. It’s different because it’s a platform for everyone. It’s is an embodiment of our day by day surge towards better promulgation of student debate and all of its concomitant merits. There is and never will be a perfect speech or a perfect debate. Nevertheless, we believe in the process of fostering growth in even the youngest debaters. I like to think that DAYS has only brought us one step closer to that goal.
